Daniel Amen, M.D.
Dr. Amen is a physician, double board certified psychiatrist, television producer and nine-time New York Times bestselling author. He is the Founder and Medical Director of Amen Clinics in Newport Beach and San Francisco, California, Bellevue, Washington, Reston, Virginia, Atlanta and New York City. The Washington Post reported that, “By almost any measure, Dr. Amen is the most popular psychiatrist in America.”
Dr. Amen is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, the highest award they give members, and is the lead researcher on the world’s largest brain imaging and rehabilitation study on professional football players. His research has not only demonstrated high levels of brain damage in players, he also showed the possibility of significant recovery for many with the principles that underlie his work.
Together with Pastor Rick Warren and Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Amen is also one of the chief architects on Saddleback Church’s “Daniel Plan,” a 52 week program to get the world healthy through religious organizations.
Dr. Amen is married to Tana, the father of four children, grandfather to Elias, Julian, Angelina, Emmy and Liam. He is an avid table tennis player.
Mimi Guarneri, M.D., FACC
Board-certified in cardiovascular disease, internal medicine, nuclear medicine and holistic medicine, Dr. Guarneri is President of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine, the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, and is Senior Advisor to the Atlantic Health System for the Center for Well Being and Integrative Medicine. Dr. Guarneri also is founder and director of Guarneri Integrative Health, Inc.
Dr. Guarneri began her career at Scripps Clinic as an attending in interventional cardiology, where she placed thousands of coronary stents. Recognizing the need for a more comprehensive and holistic approach to cardiovascular disease, she founded the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine where state-of-the-art cardiac imaging technology and lifestyle change programs are used to aggressively diagnose, prevent and treat cardiovascular disease. Dr. Guarneri served as SCIM’s Medical Director for 15 years.
Dr. Guarneri is the author of The Heart Speaks (Simon & Schuster 2007), a poignant collection of stories from heart patients who have benefited from integrative medicine. Richard E. Harris, Ph.D
Richard Harris is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Internal Medicine Division of Rheumatology at the University of Michigan. His background is in basic science and clinical research in alternative medicine and pain. He received his B.S. degree in Genetics from Purdue University in 1992 and his Ph. D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from UC Berkeley in 1997. He is a graduate of the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has received an MS degree in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis at the University of Michigan. Dr. Harris is currently investigating the neurobiological mechanisms of both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic (acupuncture/acupressure) treatments for chronic pain and fatigue conditions. His recent investigations have focused on the role of brain neurotransmitters and their receptors in humans with chronic pain and fatigue. He is a member of the American Pain Society and previous co-President for the Society for Acupuncture Research.

Jay P. Shah, M.D.
Jay P. Shah, MD is a physiatrist and clinical investigator in Bethesda, Maryland USA. His interests include the pathophysiology of myofascial pain and the integration of physical medicine techniques with promising complementary approaches in the management of neuro-musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. He also completed the one-year UCLA Medical Acupuncture course and a two-year Bravewell Fellowship at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine.
Jay is a well-known lecturer on mechanisms of chronic pain, myofascial pain, acupuncture techniques and other related topics. He has given many invited lectures and hands-on workshops nationally and internationally for physicians, physical therapists,massage therapists, chiropractors, dentists, and acupuncturists as well as physician assistants and nurse practitioners among other professional groups. Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D
Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist who experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain in 1996. It took eight years for Dr. Jill to completely recover all of her physical function and thinking ability.
