Founder and board president

Universal Health Solutions was founded by Laurie Angell, RS, LMT, in an effort to bring the medical community together to explore and discuss various modalities of integrative medicine in conjunction with more traditional practices.

“There have been many groundbreaking advances in modern medicine but the current medical model is still incomplete and will remain so until it addresses the needs of the whole person, body, mind and spirit.  Modern health care must include an emphasis on self-care, healthy living and prevention, and must offer the full array of available treatments including complementary and alternative treatment options.”  - Laurie Angell

A graduate of Grand Valley State University (Allendale, Michigan), Laurie worked as a registered sanitarian and was a public health inspector with Allegan County, before committing to raising her two daughters.  She is also a licensed massage therapist and continues to pursue studies in other fields of integrative health and medicine, including stress management and more.  She has also practiced Transcendental Meditation (TM) for the past 20 years.

Laurie is a charter member and active volunteer with the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM). She is also a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and Healing Touch International (now Healing Beyond Borders).  Laurie resides in the Grand Rapids area.
